This cottage, set
on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, posed a unique design challenge to
AMDG with its tight site constraints and its setting between a critical risk
erosion area and a secondary dune. AMDG worked closely with the DEQ,
applying for special exceptions to demolish the existing home and structures
while designing a beautiful new five-bedroom New England shingle style
cottage. The interior was designed to be warm and intimate enough for a
couple while still providing plenty of space to accommodate large family
gatherings. The main living spaces were oriented to the west to take
advantage of the spectacular views of the lake. |
