AMDG working with
LAM Corporation, Rockford Construction and the owner as a team, created a
design that was successfully executed on the existing RCS campus.
Goals included complementing the existing structures and site, programming
to promote community, and sensitivity to future growth of the high school.
The exterior of the sports center was inspired by the architectural
character of the middle school and was an indigenous response to the
beautiful New Mexico terrain. From the inside, the sports center
captures views of the stunning Hogback mountain ridges. The lobby
elicits an environment for building community by acting as a plaza for
people to gather for performance and sporting events. In effect, the
athletic center also functions as a community center encouraging students in
both athleticism and the arts. |
