The addition
responds to the client's desire to upgrade the image of the building and to
unify the image of the office and manufacturing plant. The multi-purpose
portion of the addition also expanded the amenities which the client
provides to employees; it includes a cardiovascular fitness area, locker
room, showers and expanded cafeteria. The plan of the addition allowed for
re-organization of the engineering teams. A design-build relationship
between the architect and general contractor afforded architectural
expression within the parameters of a fixed budget.
