AMDG Architects has joined
forces with Diekema Hamann Architecture & Engineering and Rockford
Construction Company in the consolidation of the Grand Rapids Christian
Elementary Schools.
AMDG worked to develop a design that would combine the four city-based
preschool through fifth grade facilities into a single building. The team
has persevered to overcome budget constraints, and to balance differing
opinions, expectations, and desires from the various existing school
communities. AMDG worked diligently with the City of Grand Rapids, as well
as neighbors of the new building’s location school when considering the
design of the building and its impact on the surrounding community.
A groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 4, 2009, and allowed
students, families, and community members to kick off construction on the
new campus. Grand Rapids Christian expects to open it’s new facility’s doors
for the Fall 2010 school year.
